About Course

Title: Discovery Thinking

Duration: 2 hrs

Learning Outcomes: Participants will have a good understanding of the course ahead and will understand community problems. The cohort will also have gained insight into different business structures with a focus on social enterprise.  Individuals will be able to challenge assumptions and have insight into the discovery process.

Personal Outcomes: New connections will be made with the cohort. Leaners will finish the session with a feeling of inspiration and excitement for their pilot ideas. New confidence to experiment and fail during the process will support the participants in their journey.

Title: Defining Ideas

Duration: 2hrs

Learning Outcomes: By the end of the session participants will understand what a pilot is, what elements make up a pilot and will have started to explore what their pilot might be. Leaners will have identified the need for their pilot and what has created the need. They will have pinned down what problems they are seeking to address and started to collect evidence behind their ‘what, why and how’ statements. Each person will know the difference between primary and secondary evidence and research and will have an understanding of how to conduct customer research conversations. All participants will have started to pull together a public benefit statement.

Personal Outcomes: Leaners will have increased confidence in their ideas and should also now feel connected with their cohort. Greater understanding of their direction and vision should also be starting to take root.

Title: Risk, Timeline & Impact

Duration: 1 hr

Learning Outcomes: The cohort will have a basic understanding of risk and how to create their own risk assessment in relation to their pilot. They will have gained knowledge on how to create a standard timeline to follow in order to execute their pilot and hold themselves accountable. Participants will also have started to explore why impact measurement will help them to understand the success of their pilot and should have started to think about what methods of impact collection they will use and how they will measure their outcomes.

Personal Outcomes: Learners will feel ready to manage their pilot and have a clear understanding of the steps needed to create a timeline. They will have a sense of purpose when working towards their pilot outline and should feel a shared connection with the rest of their cohort.

Title: Pitch Perfect

Duration: 1 hr

Learning Outcomes: By the end of the session, learners will have created a pitch by identifying their hook, problem, solution, impact and market. Each person will understand the seed funding presentation process and what needs to be included in this. This means that the cohort will have clearly identified their pilot, the recourses needed, the timeline, risk and impact measurement.

Personal Outcomes: Learners will have a strong sense of direction with their pilots and vision for their business. They will feel organised and confident in their ideas and how they will move forward.
